Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.
PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.
Sport
Sport is an important part of the school curriculum. Sport is generally held on Fridays. Parents will be advised if there is a change to this routine.
On sport days children are asked to wear their sports uniform to school. Parents are asked to encourage their children to be ‘sun smart’, particularly in the warmer months.
A daily Physical Education program runs in the school, up to 4 mornings per week. During this time students are taught fundamental movement skills such as skipping, hopping, throwing, running, catching and kicking. These sessions allow students to develop skills necessary to participate in a wide range of sports.
